Ray Mitchell

Plein air and studio painter working in oils. I paint the area where I live in Montana including mountians, rivers and Yellowstone National Park. In addition I do a lot of seaside paintings where I go in Southern California each year. I also love to portray the native americans and history of an area. My studio paintings are often times quite large and often times take a year to finish. I work on several large studio paintings at a time. Plein Air studies are done outside in a short period of time to capture the light and atmosphere of the momment. I use these for studies for reference in my studio paintings and they are also for sale.
